KS Service Center receives first 120 tons of durable steel

The steel processing industry can become more sustainable faster. Based on that vision, KS Service Center, supplier of strip and sheet metal, has purchased 120 tons of Magnelis® XCarb Recycled and Renewably Produced steel. 250 tons of co₂ were saved in the production of this delivery of steel.

The sustainable Magnelis® Recycled and Renewably Produced steel was supplied by ArcelorMittal and is being further processed by KS Service Center for its customers. The steel was delivered from Ghent to Moerdijk by six electrically powered trucks. It is intended that all orders of this steel will be transported as sustainably as possible in the future.

Milestone

Sustainability has gained a strategic place in KS Service Center's operations in recent years. The ambition is to become the most sustainable Service Center in the Benelux. The order for the Magnelis®Recycled and Renewably Produced steel is therefore a milestone in the implementation of the company's sustainability strategy.

Gregory Rombaut, Manager of Sales and Marketing at KS Service Center, took delivery of the sustainable steel and is delighted: "This first is the result of a great collaboration between ArcelorMittal's sales organization and KS Service Center. By transporting the steel with DFDS e-trucks, we are implementing our sustainability approach as much as possible in the chain. We are proud of the efforts of all parties involved to really put sustainability into practice."

The steel order is one of several initiatives KS Service Center has implemented to reduce its carbon footprint. Several sustainability projects are already underway within its own operations. KS Service Center is trying to get customers and suppliers to join the sustainability movement more quickly through the initiatives.
